As a bereaved mother and Certified Grief Educator, I am here to provide you with the highest level of compassionate presence and holistic support to guide you through this impossible time.
Even when surrounded by well intentioned family and friends, it’s important for you to feel heard, to be supported, and to really connect with someone who understands, so you are comfortable sharing your deepest pain.
We often don’t know how to be present to our grief, to even want to move forward when you are in grief can feel like a betrayal.
Even though grief is a deeply personal path, you can find tremendous comfort and healing in our shared connections. I will share how cultivating meaningful connections with fellow grievers is one of my most treasured pieces in my grief pilgrimage, and has inspired my personal growth, courage and resilience.
I created INSPIRE as a heart centered community and sanctuary for you to connect with and be inspired by a collective of grievers, as you share your heart+story with people who understand and “get it”.
Compassionately supporting you and inspiring your way of the grief pilgrimage is my life’s work.
I believe that breathing is life changing.
I believe in the power of small steps and why little changes matter.

Sharing your grief is an act of love. Your relationship with your loved one continues through your shared stories and cherished memories. As you find your way of the grief pilgrimage you will find new ways to continue your relationship and to honour your loved one ♡
INSPIRE Holistic Healing & Hope
INSPIRE is a heart centered community that holds a sacred space to compassionately support you as you navigate your grief, inspiring holistic healing, hope and growth, one day at a time. Melissa shares how being able to meaningfully connect with other grievers has been one of her most treasured pieces in her grief pilgrimage. You will be inspired to find understanding, peace and love in your own grief journey.
Grief Must Be Witnessed
You are not alone. Share your story and become emotionally honest as you allow yourself to feel your feelings, release painful memories, heartache, regret, and any feelings of blame and guilt. While you are encouraged to share your heart+story, you may also choose to just listen and that is perfectly ok.
Find Your Path to Healing
Melissa holds the yogic perspective that we are whole as we are, so even if you feel broken it is important to remember that you are not broken.
Navigate your grief your way. You may be newly bereaved, grieving a decades old loss, or you may be further along and ready to light the way for others by doing your own sacred work.
Together we will take small yet meaningful steps towards healing, being gently guided with a weekly intention and supportive practice, such as a journal prompt or reflection, poetry, music, creative art, sharing a picture, or inspiring a walk in nature.
Knowing that you are supported in your grief journey will help you to get unstuck and find your path to healing ♡
We Lead with Lovingkindness
Please feel welcome as all our groups are lead with lovingkindness. This is a safe space for us to support each other in sharing our deepest thoughts and feelings. We are often at our most vulnerable when sharing about the death of a loved one, please bring a willingness to listen to others, and be prepared to give & receive kindful attention.
Courageous Grieving
It takes courage to share your grief, to share your story and your pain ~ sometimes it takes courage just to show up each day. Each week we support each other as you share your heart+story and connect with others, with an intention to move towards remembering with more love than pain. You will be encouraged to contemplate a HeartCompass weekly question that inspires your personal growth towards healing, as well as being able to ask Melissa your most important questions.
Being supported in your grief & healing journey will inspire your personal growth, courage and resilience as you move forward to create meaning in your life and in the life of your loved one ♡
INSPIRE Personal Wellbeing Plan with Mindful Self-Compassion & Spiritual Teachings
Your wellbeing is so important as you navigate this devastating time in your life. INSPIRE is grounded in grief & mindful self-compassion practices, integrating science-backed tools, strategies for resilience, self-reflection, creative art & self-care rituals. The foundation of the program is the INSPIRE Personal Wellbeing Guide, designed for you to create your own personalized guide, as you learn to carry your grief and breathe space into your life, showing up for yourself with a gentle grace so that you can tend to your feelings with compassion and lovingkindness.

Grief Yin Yoga + Healing Guided Meditations (all levels)
Experience heart opening Grief Yin Yoga practices which inspire a deeper connection to yourself and your loved one as you gently move into your body awareness to help calm the body and quiet the mind. Melissa teaches the importance of understanding the relationship between emotional stress and physical symptoms in your body and why it’s so important to integrate the wholeness of your love and your pain. Each practice has 7 nurturing postures set to music for emotional release, followed by a healing guided meditation. This practice is for all levels, even if you have never practiced yoga before, you may also choose to simply lie on the floor and that is perfectly ok.

Compassionate Guidance & Support
We are a grief avoidant and grief illiterate society that often expects us to “just move on“, and unresolved grief can affect every area of your life. Your grief deserves your attention and mindful presence for you to fully grieve your loss. Melissa holds a sacred space for you to attend to your grief, as she guides you to be present to your feelings and to open your heart and listen to what it has to say ♡

Join us on May 14th for the Intro & Orientation Session (3:00pm PST | 6:00pm EST). The program begins the following week with your Support Loss Group.
I will be sharing my personal stories of loss during the INSPIRE Program, including the loss of my best friend Heather at 15 years-old by suicide, the loss of my father Ron by cancer including his stay in palliative care, and the devastating loss of my beloved daughter Natasha. I will share how I have connected the dots to find the lessons, the meaning, and created a legacy to honour each beautiful life. You will be gently guided each week, encouraged to share your heart+story, practicing mindful self-compassion practices, and experiencing healing, guided meditations. You will discover ways to connect the dots in your own beautiful life, and how to honour your loved one ♡

This group is open to you if your child has died. You may be their parent, grandparent, guardian, or anyone who defines their role as a parent.
Parent Loss

This group is open to you if your parent has died. You may be their child, grandchild, niece or nephew, or anyone who defines them in a parental role.
All Loss

This group is open to anyone who has experienced a death of a loved one, sibling, spouse, family member, or friend.
Other Losses (Non-death)

This group is open to anyone who is experiencing a major life transition such as a breakup or divorce, blended or new family dynamic, burnout with career or personal stress, child/parental estrangement, friend breakup, accident or illness, new life direction, retirement-reinvention, and also includes anticipatory grief, and caregiver stress.
Closed Support Loss Groups have a fixed membership, compared to Open Groups where new members drop in and out each week. In my experience, Closed Support Loss Groups are more successful as members form a closer bond and cultivate meaningful connections, working together as a group each week to establish consistent support & trust. Closed Support Loss Groups typically maintain more confidentiality, with a higher commitment to the healing process, given the cohesion of the group – this encourages deeper conversations and sharing, leading to lifelong friendships between members.

INSPIRE membership sessions are not recorded in order to respect the privacy of all. INSPIRE membership sessions are group conversations around the death of a loved one. All sessions with Melissa Bowers are considered coaching or mentorship and are not therapy or group therapy. Melissa Bowers does not accept insurance. No online discussion should be used to replace professional help if that is needed.
